Mental healthcare scholarship program

Grounded32 understands that trauma-informed therapy is very expensive, especially for issues related to Complex PTSD. Sadly, most medical insurance pays providers very little for mental health support, which means most qualified professionals stop taking insurance once they receive specialty trainings and build a robust referral network. High-quality care is reserved for high-earning paychecks. Since our mission is to eradicate loneliness by making connection and healing more accessible to all, we dedicate 20% of our total spending to subsidize counseling costs for locals who make less than $45,000 (or $60,000/year with dependents).

Grounded32 refers applicants to mental health professionals that agree to see referred clients at a discounted rate of $100 (regular prices range from $160 - $225/hr.). The client is responsible for paying $50, and the scholarship fund pays the other $50 directly to the provider upon proof of attendance via signature sheet. Scholarships for weekly or bi-weekly sessions are granted in 6-month increments beginning January 1st and July 1st of each year.

Attendance. Providers are required to submit attendance sign-in sheets with their invoices. The scholarship fund will not pay for cancellations or missed appointments. Because Grounded32 aims to serve those who truly want to get better, clients who miss or cancel appointments on a regular basis may lose their scholarships so others can be helped.

Extra Support. Applicants must agree to do their best to remain abstinent from addictive substances and behaviors for the duration of their therapy, and attend at least 1 peer support group per week to improve the efficacy of therapy. This support group can be any meetup that helps the client build positive connections with people trying to improve their lives — recovery meetings, self-help meetups, religious support group, growth-oriented book studies, creative exploration networks, etc.
